Episode #6: Worn Out Shocks

Did you Know?

That most shocks on your heavy truck only last for 50,000-100,000 miles.

A major factor that plays into shocks wearing out are driving habits and the roads traveled.

Worn-out shocks can cause a rough ride and uneven tire wear.

Most shocks do not go out at once, they tend to deteriorate slowly over time.

Signs your shocks may be worn out.

  • Shocks are visibly leaking.
  • Your truck seems to roll or sway in corners.
  • Vibration in your steering wheel.
  • Uneven tire wear.

Can I replace the shocks myself?

Absolutely, with the proper tools an inexperienced person can replace shocks themselves, usually within a few hours or an evening in your driveway. While installing your shocks it is a good idea to visibly inspect other parts of your suspension as well such as airbags, leaf springs, torsion bars, spring bushings, etc.

Keep in mind, if you do not want to self-perform the installation of your heavy truck shocks, you can always rely on Legend Truck and Equipment professionals to keep your truck in the best working order possible. So, feel free to call or text 1. 855.LEGEND8 (1.855.534.3638)
